As a large-scale equipment that must be installed and used in a dedicated shielded room, fixed X-ray systems are mainly divided into two major categories: medical diagnostic models and industrial flaw detection models, featuring high power output, superior imaging quality and complete radiation protection.

Medical fixed X-ray machines are mainly deployed in hospital radiology departments for routine examinations such as chest radiography and skeletal joint imaging. With a tube voltage range of 40-150kV and equipped with large-format flat-panel detectors, they can handle 100-200 patient examinations per day efficiently. Industrial fixed X-ray units are designed to detect internal defects in metal components, castings and welds, widely used in automotive manufacturing and engineering machinery industries. They offer higher power ratings, with standard series covering 150kV, 250kV and 320kV to meet different penetration requirements.
Differences Between Fixed and Mobile X-Ray Machines
Fixed X-ray systems feature heavy components and complex structures, which must be installed in dedicated shielded rooms with strict requirements for power supply, on-site installation and commissioning. In return, they deliver highly stable imaging accuracy and exceptional spatial resolution. In contrast, portable and mobile X-ray devices are lightweight and easy to relocate, suitable for bedside examinations or temporary field operations, but their power output and imaging performance cannot match the level of fixed units.
How to Select the Right Model
For medical applications, common configurations include double-column DR systems, ceiling-suspended DR systems and UC-arm units. Double-column DR is ideal for routine radiography, while the UC-arm design offers more flexible rotation angles to support multi-angle imaging. When selecting, pay attention to the detector type: direct-conversion flat-panel detectors provide higher spatial resolution, while indirect-conversion flat-panel detectors deliver better density resolution. For industrial use, select the appropriate tube voltage series according to the maximum thickness of the test workpiece, and verify that the cooling system can effectively protect the X-ray tube for long-term stable operation.
