First of all, we need to know that in the X-ray inspection process, after the X-rays pass through the human body, a part of scattered rays will be formed. If these rays are irradiated into the imaging system, the quality of the final fluoroscopic imaging will be reduced. The function of the wire grid is to filter this part of the scattered rays and improve the quality of the imaging.
The wire grid is a flat plate composed of very thin X-ray-absorbing lead strips and paper strips. The lead strips can be arranged in various ways. After we understand the principle of using the grid, we can understand where the grid should be used. It is between the human body and the detector, as shown in the figure below.
