Types and uses of C-arm X-ray machines

The C-arm X-ray machine is divided into a large C-arm X-ray machine, a medium C-arm X-ray machine and a small C-arm X-ray machine. The image is composed of an image intensifier and CCD camera, as well as a workstation for image processing. In addition to the differences between large, medium, and small, the three are different in their target users and clinical application scope.
The large-scale C-arm X-ray machine is an advanced X-ray diagnostic technology with image processing performed by an electronic computer. It is mainly used in the diagnosis and treatment of systemic vascular diseases. In layman’s terms, the contrast agent is injected into the blood vessel to be inspected, so that the blood vessel reveals its original shape. Then through the system processing, the blood vessels can be displayed more clearly, which is convenient for doctors to diagnose or perform operations.
The scope of clinical application includes the following aspects: 1. Inspection of the vascular system of the head and neck. 2. Examination of the thoracic vascular system. 3. Examination of the abdominal vascular system. 4. Examination of the vascular system of the extremities. Compared with small C-arm X-ray machines and medium-sized C-arm X-ray machines, large C-arm X-ray machines are all fixed, either fixed to the ceiling or fixed to the ground. The power is generally greater than 80kw.
For the medium-sized C-arm X-ray machine, firstly, the tube power is significantly improved. Secondly, the systemicity and controllability of the medium-sized C-arm X-ray machine have been greatly improved in the design.
The clinical scope of the medium-sized C-arm X-ray machine mainly includes: neurosurgical angiography; digestive tract interventional surgery; extremity angiography, minimally invasive interventional surgery.
The small C-arm X-ray machine, also known as orthopedic C-arm, is mainly used in orthopedics: osteopathy, reduction, nailing; pacemaker implantation, part of interventional therapy, part of radiography, etc.;
Generally speaking, the main difference between the large C-arm X-ray machine, the medium-sized C-arm X-ray machine and the small C-arm X-ray machine lies in the different scope of clinical application. In terms of function, the large C-arm X-ray machine X-ray machines are more powerful and of course more expensive. Small C-arm X-ray machines are popular among clinicians because of their flexibility and convenience in clinical use.
